Frequently Asked Questions

All aircraft and ATC are controlled by transmitting commands through text messages on the defined active frequency. This is done by using the aircraft select function followed by the appropriate command and arguments.

Since all aircraft are controlled with text commands on the defined primary frequency, anyone can manipulate the aircraft as long as they have access to that frequency. This means that you can have multiple students training with the same scenario using multiple instructors.

The data admin website will temporarily support uploading legacy TWRTrainer and Euroscope files. After the initial phase this option will be removed.

ATCTrainer aircraft will be able to path follow along paths defined before and during the scenario including SIDs, STARs, airways, and basic approaches. Radials and advanced RNP approaches will not be supported initially.

ATCTrainer will support the Tower Cab, Tracon and the Enroute environment.

ATCTrainer will only be openly available to VATUSA recognized facility and training staff. Developers will be given access to ATCTrainer on a case by case basis. Non-recognized facility staff members will not be given access except for during preliminary CRC/vNAS development. Due to technical limitations, members with a controller rating of S1 or below will not be able to access ATCTrainer.

Scenarios will be generated, edited, and stored in the vNAS Data Admin site. Facility staff and designated training staff members will have access to edit and create new scenarios.
